MAR 2016 Brussels, Belgium
TEDxBrussels is one of the world's largest TEDx events, regularly drawing crowds of over 1500 attendees in the European capital.
Eileen was one of 22 speakers invited to speak to the theme "Deeper Future." Her talk discusses how in her efforts to bring offline populations online in Afghanistan, she realized that Afghanistan was already connected to the world's biggest social network, an invisible mobile social network that exists offline.
In her talk, which has been viewed over 32,000 times on Youtube, she explains what discovering the "Sneakernet" teaches us about innovation, technology for development, and bridging the digital divide.
The Afghan Social Media Summit is Afghanistan's premiere event on technology, innovation, and social change. Organized by Impassion Afghanistan, the annual event draws over 500+ attendees from around the country and the world.
Eileen delivered the opening and closing remarks of the second annual Afghan Social Media Summit - in both Persian and English.
NOV 2015 - HALF MOON BAY, CALIFORNIA
Eileen was an opening speaker at Techonomy 2015: Rehumanizing Humanity, providing a two-minute lightening talk on "what's on my mind" to help set the tone for the event.
Techonomy 2015 was focused on this key challenge: With so many creative entrepreneurs and every company trying to become a tech company, how can we insure the resulting innovation benefits people rather than just helping businesses find new ways to make money?
Our conference program integrates a number of different formats, allowing for engaging dialogue and discussion throughout.
Eileen has been invited back to speak at Techonomy 2016.
